Myanmar

January 11 - 25, 2014

Estimated Cost:  $4,350

Myanmar is a country of mystifying contradictions whose people have endured centuries of oppression from Kublai Khan to King George VI leading up to the present military regime.  On May 2, 2008, a huge door swung open after Cyclone Nargis made landfall in Myanmar causing the death toll to rise to 138,000 people.  Outside aid was resisted at first, but eventually Christian groups were permitted to enter the southern part of the nation to minister to thousands of Burmese people who were in a state of devastation.

FAME will be partnering with Asian Children's Mission who began a partnership with FAME when the director, Joana Jones, attended a class on community Health Evangelism sponsored by FAME.

The partnership continues to grow as ACM leaders Josiah and Maeram, along with Maeram's husband, (who leads Good news Productions in Myanmar) will head up the logistical work for the FAME trip as they conduct a medical clinic. FAME will also be partnering with Thaung Ahsipha (Simon) who is the director of Hope Rays Ministry.

We are seeking experienced medical professionals such as Doctors, Nurses, Physical Therapists, NPs, PAs, and Pharmacists.  We will also be taking a small percentage of non-medical participants as well.  Team size will range 10 - 14 in number.  This team will be engaged in 8 or more medical camps ranging from 10 - 12 hours/day.  The plan is to stay in Yangon and go out daily to rural villages and schools to offer medical care, public health teaching, and evangelism.  Won't you prayerfully consider joining us?
