You Helped a Motorcycle Accident Survivor

Carlos, just before his 17th birthday, was riding second on a motorcycle when a large dog came out onto the road. The motorcycle couldn’t avoid the dog and Carlos was thrown rather violently from the bike. Between his friend and himself, he suffered the most severe injuries- a gash on his left thigh which was almost but not quite hitting his femoral artery as well as another severe road rash and cut on his right shin. He helps support his mother, sisters and a handful of nieces and nephews. Being one of the main earners for his family, they didn’t have the funds to take him to the free clinic daily for wound cleaning.

That is where a FAME partner got to step in.

They called and asked if we could come and help clean his wounds and provide care.

For two weeks I went to their house and helped wash the wounds, change bandages, and reapply the ointments. It might sound silly, but FAME’s supply of anti-adherent gauze pads were the only ones we could find. NOT a single medical supply or pharmacy here sells that style of gauze. On three occasions I took him to checkups and stitches removal at the free government run clinic and hospital. They were so impressed at how quickly his skin healed.

The materials that FAME supplied provided me the opportunity to not only provide medical healing but a time to read scripture and pray with the family. Carlos is not a believer and already has struggles with drugs (selling and using) as well as alcohol. We have known him for 5 years and with this accident, he realized how the Lord watched over him. We continue to pray for Carlos and for his heart to continue to be softened towards the Lord.

That is exactly what you make possible every day- as you partner with FAME, supplies are shipped, teams are sent, clinics are built, and ambulances are acquired.

Thank you for your partnership!

Philippines

May 10 – 22, 2025

Estimated Trip Cost: $2,900

Trip Host:  Charles Selby Memorial Hospital staff

Come join us as we take a FAME team to the Philippines!  We are very excited about partnering with the staff from the Charles Selby Memorial Hospital in Aparri.

We are seeking medical professionals such as Physicians, Nurses, PAs, NPs, Physical Therapists, Pharmacists, Dentists, and Optometrists in addition to the need for non-medical participants on this team.  We will be hosting multiple medical outreaches in local villages in and around Aparri.

Treating the basic health needs of people who will come seeking treatment is one of the ways our team can be used in ministry.  In addition, we hope to provide preventative health education that speaks to the specific health needs of the patient.

Medical outreaches open doors for our Filipino hosts to engage in personal relationships with those who come to receive treatment from our team.  Through those relationships, the good news of Jesus can be shared, and ultimately lives will be transformed.

The medical staff from the hospital will be serving side by side with our team and we are hoping that the local pastor of each community will join us as well.

If you are a Surgeon or a Specialist, there is a place for you on this team!  The administration of the Charles Selby Hospital has expressed the need for surgeons to come. They have an anesthesiologist available for all surgeries as well as a surgical staff.

Our ultimate goal is to bring glory to God in all that we do while serving in the Philippines!  Our hosts need encouragement as they serve the Lord each day in some pretty challenging conditions.  We want to join them as co-workers in the ministry they have been called to do.  This experience is exciting, challenging, fulfilling, and can be emotional at times.  Oh, and I forgot to mention, humbling.

Our accommodations will be in a hotel or guest house setting. Our meals will be provided as well as the need for transportation.  English and Filipino are the official languages of the Philippines, so we will be able to communicate effectively!

There are needs to be met and God’s love to be shared.  Won’t you join us?

May Prayer Calendar

Thank you for your continued partnership with the medical ministry of FAME through your faithful prayers. We are truly blessed to have so many lifting up the ministry and the people we serve around the world.

This month, we ask you to join us in prayer for two short-term medical mission teams heading to the Philippines and Honduras.

Our first team will be working alongside the dedicated staff of Charles Selby Memorial Hospital in Aparri, Philippines. There, they will conduct multiple medical outreaches in villages throughout the area. These outreach efforts will not only provide basic care, but more importantly, they will help our Filipino partners build personal relationships with those who come to receive treatment—creating opportunities to share the good news of Jesus and bring not just healing, but lasting transformation

Our second team, comprised of college students from Corban University, will serve with our mission partner His Eyes in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. We are excited to see how God will use their time, energy, and passion to bless and serve the people there.

Please pray for each of the participants on these trips, for our mission partners in the Philippines and Honduras, and for the individuals and families they will serve. Pray that God works through our teams in every interaction, so that everyone receiving care not only gets the treatment they need but also experiences the love of Christ.

We also invite you to lift up our FAME volunteers who give of their time and talents each week to further the ministry. We would not be able to do all we do without their behind-the-scenes service that makes it possible for FAME to reach communities all around the world.

Finally, as Memorial Day approaches, may we all take time to honor and remember the brave men and women who gave everything in service to our country. Their sacrifice is not forgotten.

Thank you again for standing with us in prayer.

Blessings in the coming month.

The Doors You’re Opening May Surprise You

We often talk about “open doors,” but the doors opened by FAME might be different than you imagine.

Yes, there are open doors for the Gospel—because every patient is treated in the name of Jesus. There are also doors opening for new hospitals, like the one you recently helped open in a slum in Nairobi, Kenya. This is not only the only hospital in the region, but a Level 4 hospital, providing critical services unavailable anywhere else.

There are doors opening to clinics that will be the first point of contact for people who have never heard the name of Jesus.

There are doors opening to ambulances, carrying the most vulnerable in critical condition—transporting them with both medical care and the compassion of Christ.

And one of the most joyful “open doors” we witness regularly is when a shipping container finally arrives after months of travel by land and sea. The moment the container doors swing open, communities celebrate. Inside, they find medical equipment and supplies—gifts from people like you—donated in Central Indiana and beyond, now ready to serve some of the world’s most remote and underserved areas.

Because of your support, children dance, joyfully carrying packages from inside the container. Strong men and women unload life-saving equipment, tools that will serve their people with the love of Jesus.

Thank you for opening these doors and making life-saving care possible around the world.

Click here for a video of the shipping container being unloaded.

Early on the First Day of the Week…

…while it was still dark—the team set out.

Easter morning was going to be unforgettable, as they planned to visit a young church nestled in the jungle mountains. Excitement filled the air as they drove to the trailhead, ready for the adventure ahead. Upon arrival, they unloaded their supplies and began the three-hour hike, hoping to arrive by sunrise to encourage this new congregation.

As the sky began to brighten, the team eagerly anticipated catching a glimpse of the village. But as the sun rose higher and the trail grew warmer, it became clear they had taken a wrong turn somewhere after crossing a few ridges. Eventually, the edge of a village appeared.

Children were the first to run out and greet them. As translators began speaking with the adults, they realized they had arrived in a completely different village—one that had never heard of the young church they were trying to visit.

As the team explained their purpose, the villagers asked, “What is a church?” and then, “Who is Jesus?” Finally, they asked, “Can you tell us about Him?”

What better opportunity could there be—on Resurrection Day—than to share the good news of Jesus with people who had never heard? The team leader Paul, from Iowa tells, “After speaking to the crowd which had gathered about Jesus, who He is, what He has done, and how they can have their sins washed away we lingered the rest of the day. Many responded to the gospel, and others after having some simple medical needs addressed were very interested in traveling to the village with the church to learn more. The good news attached to the loving health care made a great impact.”

There are still millions who do not yet know the Hope we celebrate on Easter morning. Thank you for partnering with FAME to help bring help and hope to the world’s most vulnerable—through medical evangelism.

With gratitude for you and hope because of Jesus,

Bill Warren
Executive Director

Walked 20km Pregnant

Yvonne, who walked 20km each way for her prenatal care, gave her life to the Lord after being ministered to by a FAME partner featured at this year’s Night of Hope Banquet. Yvonne is a young Mother from a very humble family with very meager income. Her husband is a day worker doing the best he can to provide for their family. Yvonne, who began her prenatal care at the Dispensary, would visit the facility every month for regular checkups.

Our mission partner writes, On each of those visits, a seed of God’s love would be planted in her heart, this was from the way she was handled, the love shown, the care given and the word of God shared. Eventually when she gave birth to her baby girl, she gave her life to Christ. Because she comes from a distant place from the Clinic, she joined a Church nearby her home to grow in the Lord. We remain grateful to God, for because of the work done by the Dispensary, a soul was brought to the Kingdom.

The Night of Hope Banquet will be raising funds for the “Yes! Fund,” with one of the key goals for the evening being to help purchase a new medical van to support travel for patients like Yvonne.

If you can attend, you will experience:

  • A Live Painting during the evening which will be in the Silent Auction
  • Over 100 items from around the world in the Silent Auction
  • Amazing Stories of Impact from in person guests (Earl Haubner-Brazil, Nathan and Justie Wingfield-Malawi, and Hope Gerber-Guatemala
  • A Delicious Italian Dinner
  • And much more!

Seeds of Hope planted like they were for Yvonne will be told over and over again.

Thank you for your partnership!

Before and After

Heart Care in West Africa is limited. In Northern Ghana there was NO Cardiac facility for the whole region.

Before the Cardiology Clinic:
In 2018, FAME learned about a one-year-old boy named Jibrilu and his family. To access cardiology care, they had to leave their home at 2 a.m. and endure a three-hour bus ride to the city, where they would often wait in line for 12 hours or more before Jibrilu could be seen by the medical staff. The costs of travel and lodging were placing a significant strain on Jibrilu’s family, who relied on street vending for income Before there was a cardiology clinic, the FAME partner there covered much of the cost of travel for the family and cared for them physically and spiritually.

Now we’d like to tell you about another story, of Jason Dapaah whose life was in danger. This two-year-old boy had been experiencing significant cardiac issues. When his family heard about the new FAME partner, CLT cardiology clinic, they were excited to know that they could receive high quality care right in their town.

At the CLT clinic, the Cardiologist quickly diagnosed the condition, scheduled a referral to the Cardio Thoracic Centre in the Nation’s capital (Accra) for surgery. After surgery, the great news is that Jason is now doing great!! Praise the Lord!! CLT believes these miraculous stories will only continue to increase as the clinic grows.

Access to healthcare will make a difference for many families. Your partners there are evangelistic and both families heard the gospel! Jibrilu’s parents were Muslims and through their relationship with the ministry there, Jibrilu’s parents especially his mother; Miss Jamila are opening their hearts to the good news about Jesus which was shared with them. Jason’s parents are the same, and as both families now have a facility reaching out to them for follow up care, the gospel is an ongoing message to them.

Thank you for your partnership that makes this possible!!!

Honduras

May 9-17, 2025

(**to be filled by Corban University Students only )

Estimated Cost$1960

Host Mission:  His Eyes, Tegucigalpa, Honduras
Missionaries:  Felipe and Valerie Colby

We are building a team to serve with the ministry of “His Eyes” directed by Felipe and Valerie Colby located in Tegucigalpa, Honduras.   Along with providing healthcare for patients in need, we are also making ourselves available to the Honduran medical staff in the area of teaching/training.  Preventative healthcare topics will also be taught to Honduran families with the purpose of promoting better healthcare in their homes.

Fungal skin infections, GI issues, respiratory illnesses, and encounters with pain are among the leading illnesses experienced by the Honduran people.  Our focus will be on those people living in rural locations of the country where healthcare is not readily accessible.

Mobile medical clinics help to open doors for national Evangelists who are called to reach people for Christ in a specific community. Illnesses are treated by the medications that are dispensed by our team, but the long-lasting treatment for all of life’s challenges lies in knowing Jesus. Mobile medical camps enhance the ministry of local Evangelists and help draw attention to the Great Physician and His healing.

For this team, we are seeking both medical and non-medical participants. Our ultimate goal is to bring glory to God in all that we do while serving in Honduras. Our hosts need encouragement as they serve the Lord each day. We want to join them as co-workers in the ministry they have been called to do.

April Prayer Calendar

Thank you so much for your ongoing partnership with FAME through prayer. It is a blessing to know that so many of you come alongside us each month, lifting up the ministry and the partners we serve. We are grateful for your commitment and for being a vital part of what God is doing through FAME.

This month, a medical mission team from E. 91st Street Christian Church in Indiana will be traveling to Mexico from April 5-12 to partner with World Wide Hispanic Outreach. We ask for your prayers not only for the team members but also for our mission partners, the Fuentes family, and for the individuals who will receive care in the name of Christ.

Additionally, the FAME Board of Directors will gather for their semi-annual meeting on the last weekend of the month. Please pray for wisdom and discernment as they make decisions for the ministry in the coming year and pray for the individuals board members leading up to the meeting.

And lastly, please pray for FAME’s annual Night of Hope on April 26th. This year’s event, Seeds of Hope, will help fund FAME partners serving vulnerable communities. Together, we can bring life-changing healthcare and spiritual support to those in need. Enjoy a night of fellowship, purpose, and seed planting. We would love for you to come join us for this event. Tickets can be purchased through our website at www.fameworld.org/2025-night-of-hope.

As we approach Easter, we are reminded of the living hope we have in Christ, as expressed in 1 Peter 1:3: “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.” The resurrection of Jesus is the foundation of our faith and our hope, and as we celebrate this Easter season, may we be encouraged by the new life and eternal hope that we have in Him.

May you have a wonderful Easter as we celebrate the Risen Christ!
